Organizations & teams
An organization is the account everything hangs off: the plan, the credit balance, the people, and the workspaces.
If you're working alone you already have one, it was created with your account, and you can mostly forget it exists. This page is about what happens when someone else joins.
Teams are on the Team plans.
Inviting people

In Settings → Organizations, open your organization and invite by email address, choosing the role they'll have. The card shows your seat usage at a glance. They get a link; opening it accepts the invitation and puts them straight into your organization with that role.
Pending invitations are listed, and you can cancel one if plans change.
Your seat count is always visible, so you know how many of your plan's seats are used before you invite one more person.
Roles
There are two levels, and they use slightly different words.
In the organization — who someone is to the company:
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Everything, including billing, members and workspaces |
| Designer | Create work in the workspaces they belong to |
| Viewer | See work without changing it |
In a workspace — what someone may do in this particular body of work:
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Manage the workspace, its members and its settings |
| Editor | Create and edit the work in it |
| Viewer | See it without changing it |
Someone can be a designer in the organization and a viewer on one specific workspace — which is how you give a person access to their own client's work and read-only visibility of everyone else's.
Roles are enforced throughout the product, not just on the settings page. A viewer opening a canvas gets a read-only editor, and a video edit they can watch but not change.
Billing is admin-only.
Workspaces and membership
People are added to workspaces, not just to the organization. That's what lets you run several clients in one account without everyone seeing everything: create a workspace per client and add only the people who work on it.
See Projects & workspaces for how workspaces themselves are set up.
One pooled balance
A team shares one credit balance at the organization level, rather than each person having their own. Everyone draws from the same pool, and the usage view shows where it went.
If you'd rather cap a particular body of work, give that workspace its own allowance instead of leaving it on the shared pool.
Several organizations
You can belong to more than one organization — your own and a client's, say — and switch between them from your account menu. Each carries its own plan, credits, people and workspaces; nothing crosses between them.
Switching organizations also switches you to that organization's default workspace, so you don't have to change two things.
The number of organizations you can own depends on your plan.
Talking to a human
Larger teams that need custom credit pools, custom seat and viewer permissions, several organizations under one roof, or dedicated support can arrange it directly — there's a Talk to us route on the pricing page.
